This letter from Lawrence Kingsley, Penny's appeals lawyer, sounds like a pity party. He is blaming everyone else for why the appeals process is taking so long. First it's the court's fault for their contempt and neglect towards Penny. Then it is all but Penny's fault for not being popular enough with the public. He says she needs to become more nationally known, not just known in the piddly small magazine that keeps making her the topic of discussion. Finally he blames the evidence, the postcard he sent Penny that she in turn sent us last month, because it turned out to be a dead lead. Although he ends the letter telling Penny to not worry her pretty little head because he was taking the next step on her appeal and it wouldn't take long at all. What step is that?
