Perillos And The Brazen Bull
The Brazen Bull, or Sicilian Bull, was allegedly a torture and execution device designed in ancient Greece. Supposedly, Perillos of Athens invented and proposed the Bull to Phalaris, the tyrant of Akragas, Sicily, as a means of executing criminals. The Bull was made completely of bronze and had a door on one side. The acoustics built into the Bull made the criminals screams sound like a bulls bellow. A fire was then lit under the Bull and the bronze would heat and roast the criminal to death. It is unknown if this is true or legend.
JWJ mentions in his letter that his father, after his death, now jumps on copper buoys like the brazen bull in a lake of fire. He shows severe contempt for his father.
