The John William James letter tells us to use a tool that he has previously sent us in a package. Using the blacklight from episode two of Awakening and shining on the back side of the page, we find the message JWJ is sending us:
"Bifid Typical Polybius"
Using the polybius square shown below, with no key, we will decode this bifid cypher.
The coffee filter cyphertext reads:
ADCD MQE, OTC BQEO TO LOO IN, IQ ON Q COIN CRIC BMNB BO QIA DIVGRT BZT W PEBZ TWT. GXT FIH WOK RVE IOO. TO LOTSKAQ WY OVS.
First we will need to find each letters location number on the polybius square. For the first letter of A we find its position is at 1,1 which means it is on the first column and first letter of that row.
For the second letter of D we find its position at 1,4 which means it is on the first column and forth letter on the first row.
We will do this, writing each set of coordinates as a fraction, such as ¼. Once you have all of the coordinates written down as a fraction, we will split the total amount of fractions in half, you should have an uneven number so you will have to split the remaining fraction in half as a top and bottom number.
