JWJ refers to an obelisk in his letter:

I had a dream of a great 0belisk. I was a1one yet from the 0belisk I felt a presence. 0ver the 1ands it towered, 1ooming and ominous. The 0belisk was an i1l omen: all was fated, fate was dark, and the darkness was in flux. Mooded in pessimism perhaps.
